Get a Skills in Demand/482 Visa

If you’re looking to come to Australia as a guest worker, then you will require a Skills In Demand (SID)/482 visa. The temporary sponsored work visa will ensure that you and your family are able to work and reside legally in Australia for the duration of the visa. We're also able to assist Australian and overseas companies to obtain Standard Business Sponsorship (SBS) approvals as well as the nomination application process.

Overview of the SID/482 visa application process

Step 1: Standard Business Sponsorship (SBS)

The company/sponsor applies to become a Standard Business Sponsor (SBS). If granted, the SBS approval will be valid for five years. The company/sponsor must be lawfully operating a business and have sufficient income cover the costs of a SID/482 visa employee.

Step 2: Nomination

Once the SBS application has been lodged or if the company already has an SBS approval, the company/sponsor may nominate the potential employee for a 482-visa-eligible occupation on the the Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL).

The nominated position must be a genuine position within the business, the employee must be paid at market salary rates for their position and above the minimum annual salary of $73,150 and usually the company must show they have advertised for this position within the local market.

Step 3: SID/482 visa application

Shortly after the nomination application is lodged or approved, a 482 visa application may be submitted for the nominated occupation. The applicant must have the skills, qualifications and experience necessary to perform the nominated occupation, including having at least 1 year of relevant work experience, meet the English language requirement and frequently requires private health insurance cover.

A 482 visa can be granted for up to 4 years and the visa holder will become eligible to be sponsored for PR after working for 2 years in your nominated occupation while holding a 482 visa.
